They're blocking the stairs moving in and we needed to unload groceries.

Today's positive thought: Despite this very...hostile week, I actually got back in contact from my best friend when I was a kid. We haven't spoken in seven years and I found out she's been looking for me since August 2015. It's been a good week.

  1. It's been my experience that the worst arguments originate with someone having unfortunate eyebrows and jealousy of ability at the piano.

    1. Hahahahahahahahaha! If that's the only time you've called the cops on people, you have much more restraint than me. I've called the cops on people who were talking too loud on the stairs. When it comes to sleep, I don't play.

    2. Pickelope,

I grew up in the ghetto. I've had to call the cops many, many times. I think this is the first time where I wasn't in danger...but you just inspired a SHIT TON of new blog posts. Thanks!

    1. Thank you! At work, I'm surrounded by bubble wrap. It puts my boss up the wall!

  3. When neighbors are noisy, we first attempt a dialogue with a reasonable request, unless it's a homeless tweaker raging in the alley directly outside the bedroom window, in which case, we call the cops from the living room (for safety, yo).

We don't live in the safest LA neighborhood, but overall, it's better than where we lived when we were stuck in NC. North Hollywood's pretty cool, overall. And there's a noise ordinance, so the cops WILL come if you call.

    1. Normally, I'll give them 10 minutes or so to calm down and see if it was a fluke. After that time, I'll go talk to them. But none of them ever answer. I only called the cops because I heard them throw and break something, which is a clear sign of violence. Otherwise I would have just gone up there and told them to pipe the fuck down.
