This post, despite it's content, is not inspired by my working at a restaurant now. It actually happens to be inspired by different cooking competition shows that my mom watches and is basically just a list of stupid food complaints things I've heard.
I know people like things cooked differently. Some people like things with salt and others don't. Some people don't like fish. That's okay and I'm not trying to insult that. What I am trying to point out is that if you're going to eat something and you know what you're eating, then you can't complain about a stupid little thing because you have to find a flaw.
"This black fish is too fishy."
That's like saying "Oh, I don't like steak because it's made of cow." or "I don't like chicken because it tastes chicken-y." Dude. Fish is going to taste fishy.
"This isn't salty enough."
Then pick up the salt shaker that is two inches away from you and add salt. You're reaching a whole new level of laziness when you can't put salt on your own food.
"The wine left too much of a taste." automatically followed by "The wine didn't leave enough of a taste."
Are they supposed to eat your food and read your mind to make sure it's exactly how you want it? It's not their fault you're so picky.
"This is too spicy." (not normally a stupid complaint but it is in this context)
Well, a spicy pepper is one of the secret ingredients that are required for the competition, so I would expect it to not be spicy at all...
"This smoked scallop is too smoky."
Said the person tasting what appeared to be unseasoned scallops...
What complaints bug you?
