A Quick Note

The laptop screen cracked. Like, so badly it's basically useless, unless I plug the laptop into the TV and use the TV like a monitor. But to do that, I have to sit in a chair that makes my back hurt after like an hour. So for now, I'm focusing on school work so I can get that done and get a job. Then I will have the money required to get a new computer.

I'm not going to be able to post quite as often as I would like, which sucks since I was just starting to have people regularly comment again, but I will post whenever I can. New computer or no new computer, I will still be doing the A-Z Challenge this year. I'll be done with schoolwork by then so it'll be easier to use this new set up with the computer by then, or I might even have a new computer. I'm not sure yet. It depends on how quickly I find a job, unless somebody out there wants to just give me a computer.

Anyways, if I don't comment on your blogs very often, I'm still around. I'll probably at least read blogs from my phone, if nothing else, but that does make it difficult to let you know so I'll work on that. If anybody misses me, you can Tweet me @WhenALionSleeps or email me at since I can easily use both from my phone.

Questions #10

Before you go any further, if you read Kianwi's blog Simply She Goes, then you probably noticed that it is no longer a thing that exists. The good news is, she now has a blog called Writsey Daisy. She's trying to let everyone know it's up and running, but I thought I would let you all know since most of you were sent my way, by Kianwi.

When I was doing the A to Z Challenge in April last year, I asked my readers for some questions so that I could do a post for Q. I didn't think I would have enough questions so I asked my friend Ashley to send me some. She sent me eight hundred so I decided I would accept the challenge and answer them all (like she also decided) but I would split it up with posts. I'll be continuing from where I left off from the previous post. You can see the other posts by going here.

(For the record, this post was written when she sent me the list for the Challenge, so not all of the answers are completely up to date.)

236) Who is your favorite comedian?
     Jeff Dunham.

237) What's your favorite board game?
Clue. I always play Mrs Scarlet and I'm actually pretty good at it.

238) Do you have any lucky items, objects, or traditions?
Not really. On my first plane ride (that I remember and by myself), my mom got me a little troll doll from the airport. I've never been on a plane without it. Does that count? I have a cross that I never take off unless it gets tangled or one of the many times that the chain has broken and needed to be replaced. That probably counts more. (Update: That cross necklace has since broken. It's not the first time and probably won't be the last, but unlike any other time, I didn't have a spare chain to use. I'll have to get another one soon.)

239) Do you have any superstitions?
I believe trailers 100, 101, and 106 where my mom works are all bad luck trailers because nobody who has moved into them since she started her job have been sane, sober, and paid rent. That's about it. (Update: Used to work. She has since been laid off because her boss is literally losing his mind with Alzheimer's but she should be working at a new park in a couple months.)

240) What's your favorite movie quote?
"Hakuna Matata." - The Lion King
"Everything in this room is eatable. Even I'm eatable. But that is called 'cannibalism', my dear children, and is in fact frowned upon in most societies." - Charlie And The Chocolate Factory

241) Who would win a fight: Chuck Norris or Jack Bauer?
Chuck Norris because I had to Google Jack Bauer to find out who he is, and that he is fictional. And 'Jack' was killed in The Lost Boys by a wooden stake sooo....

242) Do you have much of an ego?
Depends on who you're talking to. Ask my boyfriend and he'll say I do. Ask my boss and he'll say I don't. (Update: Old boss. It's too far of a commute from Arizona to a state on the other side of the country.)

243) Do you wear sunglasses indoors to look cool or stylish?
No. I think it makes people look like a douche. But I don't wear sunglasses anymore anyways because I have to wear glasses. Anybody want to give me some money so I can get contacts instead? (Update: I even mostly stopped wearing my glasses because I don't think the prescription is right anymore. They give me a lot of headaches without doing much for my vision.)

244) Are you a hat person?

245) What's your favorite supermarket chain?
Whichever has cheaper stuff and shorter lines.

246) What's your favorite fast food chain?
I'm not a big fast food fan. I typically like one thing per fast food place, at least enough to eat it then, but I'd rather eat other food. If I had to pick, it would probably be Sonic... just not the ones near here because two of them gave me horrible food poisoning that put me in bed for a week at a time. (Update: "here" being where I used to live, not here here.)

247) What's your first thought upon waking up?
"Let me go back to sleep."
     "Where's my phone?"
"I have to pee; move outta the way." which is then followed by an Olympic dash to the bathroom.
(Update: Or after the nightmare I had last night, "WHERE THE FUCK AM I? Oh wait. Shit, I thought I was dead???)

248) What animal would you most like to have as a pet?
A tame pet tiger. But nobody will let me have one. =(

249) What's your favorite type of tree?
Willow trees. I've always liked the idea of hiding under them. Not sure why.

250) If you could bankrupt one person or company, who would it be?
Somebody bad. Like somebody running a child porn ring or something. If I get people who find this blog because of those words in that answer, I'm going to be pissed. Get the fuck off my blog, you sick son of a bitch.

251) If you could steal one thing without consequence, what would it be?
The ability to do math. How sad is that?

252) Who is your favorite celeb with the same first or surname as you?
I don't really know any celebs with either of my names so I'll just go with Rachel McAdams.

253) If evil-does invaded your country, would you rush to the battlelines to defend your country or hide in a box?
I'm not going to join the military, sorry. I have respect and admiration for those who do but I won't do it.

254) What's your favorite flower?
I don't have one. Roses and peony flowers are gorgeous though.

255) Do you believe in ghosts?
I've had many weird things happen that I can't explain, but I'm not going to just assume a ghost did it either.

256) Do you believe in the Lochness Monster?
I believe something was, at least, alive there to cause the sightings but I don't believe its any sort of monster. There are just millions of animals in the world and I find it difficult to believe science has discovered and labeled them all.

257) Do you believe in aliens?
I wouldn't surprise me to find out they're real but I wouldn't say I'm a strong believer like my dad is. (Updated: I decided I should explain before posting. He claims two things, to my knowledge. One is that a UFO hovered above his house. Two is that he and his younger brother were flying kites one day. One of the kites went up and disappeared for three days, for an unknown reason. On the third day, it landed in front of him, on fire, and I think he said he saw a UFO flying away after it but I'm unsure about the last part.)

258) Do you believe the government hides technology and information from the public?
I avoid all politics the best that I can but I'm not a conspiracy theorist.

259) What is your favorite Pokemon?
Espeon. My cousin liked Umbreon when we were little and we used to argue over who was better.

So Much For Posting More Often

So, I haven't been keeping up with blogging in these past ten days. I think I have discovered why, though. With all the time I've been spending on schoolwork (which, as Wolfy has pointed out, is all I ever do), my brain short-circuits and then I don't want to read or write anything else. That means, as much as I like blogging, after reading 40 pages of whichever subject and taking however many tests, I just want food and sleep.

Good news, though! As of today, I have four courses left to finish, plus four math courses. Then I will finally have my diploma and can find a job! I've decided that I will be doing the A-Z Challenge this year, so for S, I'll be talking about the school in more detail. (I was going to do it sooner, but it's not always easy to come up with 26 topics by letters.)

Before I get on with the actual post, I just wanted to see if anybody has job interview advice. And please don't say to just be confident. I know that one already, but pretending I'm not inwardly panicking is still a work in progress. Other advice that I probably don't know or might overlook, please.

Today's actual post, is about how it's been living here, since people keep asking me.

     Answer: It's been good.

I've been here for a couple months already but it doesn't feel that long. I don't really go anywhere, because I'm trying to save my money, and I don't have anywhere to just go to since I don't really know anyone besides my boyfriend. Yes, I am aware that going places is how to meet people, but I don't know how to talk to random people either, so there's that.

Wolfy and I mainly watch Netflix, since it requires little to no talent to do that. But he has been trying to teach me video games. So far, the only one that I'm even remotely okay at is Rock Band, on easy mode. It's three colors, usually in a pattern. Even I can manage that, plus it involves music. Of course, saying I'm even remotely okay at it, means I won't be able to do a damn thing next time we play.

We've randomly gone out to do things. We went to a massive outdoor mall, through the dessert, so I could go to a book store. While at the bookstore, some guy kept picking people to follow and talking about sports. Like literally, he was chasing people and talking about sports. He did that to us and there was just no good way to handle it. It's one of those situations where I would run and hide if I had been alone.

Our roommate never leaves his room except when he goes to work at night. Sometimes, I forget that we even have a roommate, until I hear his snoring all the way across the apartment or hear the door randomly open when I'm home alone and Wolfy is at work.

Last week, Brother came over to hang out. We went to the mall to get food, but it was really gross and neither of us got what we ordered. Even my soda was flat. Like, I know mall food isn't the best, but holy shit I'm not sure how that place is still open. While we were at the mall, we saw a giant candy thing you have to pay like 25 cents and turn the thing and out comes candy... And then we saw the names of some of the candy.

This was my food.

Crybaby Guts

Super Balls

This was less about the name and more about how they were the size of my fist.

Pucker Ups
At the mall, we learned something. Every goth kid ever lives in this city. Not only that, but some of those goth kids, turn into goth moms. So gothy, that it was pure black makeup, drawn on eyebrows, dyed black hair straightened to death, and clothes right out of a Tim Burton movie. Next time, we decided to tally how many goth kids we see, and how many dudes wearing sunglasses inside.

Then we wandered around aimlessly. Only two things happened. Number one, we got milkshakes. Number two, we passed by some woman's car and she was talking on the phone and said, "OOOOOOoooooooooooUuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuUUUUUoooeeeeeOOOOOOOOOOOhhh!" After tripping over our feet from laughing, we headed back to the apartment and saw a thing.

I had to upload that from my phone. Please don't call their phone number. It would make me sad.
Then we watched Youtube videos and then we Skyped with Sissi, since we Skyped with Brother when I was at Sissi's house a couple years ago. During our weird conversations, we got to see our niece. My niece is going to turn four this summer, but she isn't Sissi's daughter. Sissi's family adopted me into that family, so her brother's kid is still my niece.

She ran around and jumped on the bed and threw stuffed animals. You know, normal three year old stuff. Then she decided she wanted to type. I have a picture but it has her face, so you'll have to settle for the quotation, with her name replaced as "Niece".

Niece: c/
Niece: cunt
Sissi: NIECE
Me and Brother: OMG

And then hysterical laughing. Then more weird conversations. Then Brother left and wasn't sure if the front door was actually the front door, even when he opened it.

Oh yeah! And Wolfy and I finally went grocery shopping. We have more in the house than just Ramen. How many people in their 20's can say that?

P.S. Brother wrote his version of that day here. It's more detailed and hilarious.

My 2014 Goals

Last year, I wrote this post about my goals for 2013. I don't think New Year's Resolutions work very well for me so I just set goals instead. One of my goals for 2013 was to write a post for 2014 updating everyone on my progress, so this is that post. The purple font is what I wrote last year and the red font is the updates from this year.

  • I want to get my highschool diploma from my online school this year. It has been a struggle to do without a good printer and without having anyone who can help me with math. But I am determined to get it before the year is out.     Incomplete, but I have made significant progress on it. Before I moved in with Wolfy, I only had about 5 credits. I now have 14 credits out of the 24 that I need to graduate. Having a reliable internet connection really helps when you can't print your text books.
  • When getting my highschool diploma, I am absolutely determined to keep the 4.0 GPA that I have now. I may not be able to be proud of graduating with a class or having all sorts of highschool memories, but damnit, I'm going to be proud of my grades.     I wrote this before I realized how horrible I am at geography. I may not have a 4.0 anymore but I think a 3.93 is pretty damn good anyways. I can't figure out how I got an A in Economics with three 100's, two 90's, an 80, a 70, and a 68 though. But whatever! It still boosted my GPA from 3.92.
  • I will move out of my mom's house sometime this year. Along with my three cats, my rabbit, and my puppy.     Mostly complete? I did move out of my mom's house and in with my boyfriend, but I don't have any pets with me. Since my puppy goes insane without her dog, she's keeping him. She's also keeping one of the cats because she can't handle the move. Neither of us could take care of the bunny or a second cat anymore, so they're in good homes. As for my kitten who's not really a kitten anymore, she'll be joining Wolfy and I when we move to a place that will allow her without costing a fortune.
  • On that note, I will be financially independent this year. I absolutely refuse to be like some people in my family who live off of each other and take each other's money.     Mostly complete? I only pay part of rent and help with groceries, plus whatever I need like shampoo. I don't have a job yet (since I need a diploma to work in a daycare) but I have enough money saved up so that I can afford what I'm supposed to pay for now.
  • I will finally get my driver's license. I have my permit now but I'm going to be able to drive on my own so I won't have to rely on people for rides anymore.     Holy shit, I actually completed this one! I do have my license. It's for the state I came from, not the one I now live in, but it totally counts. However, I discovered I don't really like driving, so given the chance, I choose not to. Go figure.
  • I will donate at least 10 inches of hair to Locks of Love. I already have plans in motion for this but I'll write about that when I do the first step, probably sometime later this month.     This isn't even close to happening. After the lady ruined my hair last year (here for the story or here for the pictures) and even after the hair specialist tried to fix it, it still wasn't healthy. I ended up having it cut to my chin and got it lightened up a lot last January. For the most part, my hair is now healthy, but it's just gotten to my shoulder blades. When I donate it, I don't want my hair cut so short again.
  • I will look into charity work and donate at least one day a week of my time to a good cause. I'm open to suggestions for what kind of charity work to do.     I looked in to some, but I wasn't able to donate any time because of various reasons. I'm considering a couple online, that mainly involve emailing/writing letters to sick kids to make them happy. But I lost the website that I had found before I so need to fix that.
  • I will make a page with a complete list of things that I have to do before opening the daycare. Mostly because it will make it easier to update people on my progress, but also because it will help me keep up with my progress.     I did that one! I'm not sure if the list is complete, but it's still right here.
  • On that list, I will cross at least two different things off of it at some point this year. I would like to make that number higher than two, but I have to be realistic with money.     I crossed off one thing. That's still better than none.
  • I will try my best not to get another concussion because as I learned in 2012, they really really suck. My head is actually still very sensitive. I've bumped it a few times and with the way it affected me, I was scared I would have to go back to the doctor. No more of that, please.     Very proud to announce that I didn't get another concussion! My head is still sensitive and I've been told that it might always be now, but at least I didn't get another one.
  • At the end of this year, I will write a post complete with full updates on everything that I have completed this year.     I'm happy I added this one just because of all the stuff I didn't complete, but at least I can say I did this one.

Over all, I didn't complete nearly as much as I wanted to, but I did make a lot of progress. Progress is a lot better than not doing anything at all. For 2014, I think I'm going to try this whole list of goals thing again and see what happens so here's what I'm going to try to do before the year 2014 is over.

  • Get my diploma.
  • Get my GPA as high as possible, since a 4.0 is out of the question.
  • Get a job, preferably in a daycare.
  • Find somebody that I can afford and trust to do my hair so history doesn't repeat itself.
  • Find that one charity where I can write emails and donate my time there.
  • Cross two things off my daycare list.
  • Still don't get another concussion because ouchy.
  • Write more poetry.
  • Start posting twice a week instead of just once.
  • Care more about my content and what you're interested in reading about.
  • Complete both the A-Z Challenge and the NaBloPoMo Challenge.
  • Don't buy any more nail polish until I use what I have because I have waaaay too many.
  • Don't let family drama effect me so much, when I'm not even apart of their lives.
  • Write an update next year about all of these goals.

What are your goals for next year? What are you interested in reading from me? Are there anymore blogging challenges that I should check out?

     Oh, and Happy New Year!
